2009 03 30 - New Website Update is on its way.

2008 12 15 - Thanks for all the get well messages that have been sent in. They were very much appreciated. Thank you.

2008 12 03 - The Xmas2008 fund is off to a good start. Not as good as some would like, but things are looking good.

2008 12 01 - We thank you for the 139 e-mails received in the last few days. Please be patient with us while we ensure that all those that need a reply, get one. Thank you. (What we mean, is that we probably won't get them all done today).

2008 12 01 - There will be no trading for investments except the Xmas2008 fund until 04/12/2008. We have left this very late and need to give it our attention in full to get it started.

2008 11 28 - Please note that due to commitments, there will be no e-mail replies after today until 01/12, possibly even 02/12.

2008 11 28 - As 24/11 was to tight, the last time for funds to be in for the Xmas2008 is today at 16:00 (That should put our new transfer system to the test). This gives us nearly 3 weeks to grow this fund.

2008 11 28 - The Xmas2009 Fund will go live at the start of next year. The Last day for funds to be in for its start will be 12:00 Tuesday 30th December 2008. After this time funds may be added weekly by each Friday at 12:00 and for monthly additions by 12:00 on the last  Friday of the preceding month.

2008 11 27 - Don't forget to get your funds in if you want to participate in the Xmas2008 fund.

2008 11 22 - Website updated to correct error on date. (Thanks M.)

2008 11 20 - A News Letter - Or Not The News Letter?

Suggestions are invited from members on the possibility of starting a Club news letter, its content, funding and running.

2008 11 20 - Meetings - Informal. Suggestions are required from members for informal or FUN meetings for our Club. What should we do? How often should we have Fun? How is it all going to be arranged? How should it be funded (membership fee, profits levy or something else)? Please send in your suggestions. Is it too late for Christmas? When should we start?

2008 11 20 - Meetings. We appreciate that not all members can attend meetings, However it is necessary that we receive member feedback on certain issues from time to time. We are considering setting up an on-line system which permits even our members abroad to have their say. We would welcome suggestions from members on how this could be accomplished. Currently, we post info in the News section and invite member response. Can this be improved? Please send in your suggestions. All are welcome.

2008 11 19 - We have received and are testing a new system which should help improve our profitability. Success or failure will be posted within the coming weeks.

2008 11 19 - We will be testing the new fast payment facilities of our new bank shortly. We will then update the FAQ section. We are hoping the new facilities will be available to members before Christmas 2008.

2008 11 18 - Having received several complaints regarding the fact that we have chosen not to trade at certain times, we would like to explain our reasons. The main reason is that the volatility of the markets which we trade in currently, has been very high. Whilst this is good for us, it can also be very, very bad. We have made no gains when we have not traded. please bear in mind that many people are experiencing considerable drops in the value of their pensions and savings (averaging 40% loss according to those who have sent details and asked for advice). We have not suffered such losses. But we have not made the gains we would have liked either. This does not mean that we are not committed to investment growth. We are simply taking good care of our members as all clubs should.

2008 11 18 - Ok., Ok., due to member pressure, we will be making the Xmas fund available for those enthusiastic members for Christmas 2008. Please arrange funds in the Club account by 24/10/2008.

2008 11 17 - Due to a very large number of e-mails requesting a Christmas Fund, we have decided to succumb to the idea. The new Xmas fund will go live in January, ready for Christmas 2009.

2008 11 17 - There will be a temporary pause in trading our investments while funds are moved from Broking accounts to bank account and then to the new account and back to the Brokers. Whilst this is now the second time we have done this, the new bank has agreed to provide facilities which should speed up the process of getting funds to members and vice versa. This is a positive move for the Club. We do not see the need to do this again in the foreseeable future.

2008 11 17 - We have now successfully moved banks (Yes, again). Please ensure that all Direct Debits and Standing Orders are changed to the new account details by 24/11/2008. The new details have been sent to all members who have such orders in place. If you would like to set one up and do not yet have the details, then please contact Info@FriendlyMoneyTree.com.

2008 11 14 - We must apologise for the delay in updating the website. Due to the amount of admin required, we had delegated this task to a very kind volunteer. Unfortunately there were some technical issues that prevented the success of this idea. We do however appreciate the assistance which has been directed elsewhere.

2008 11 10 - New Update coming soon.

2008 10 16 - We have been making arrangements to ensure that our investments and monies held in banks are completely safeguarded against unpleasant events in the financial industry. This has caused some delays in admin and may cause temporary suspension of investments as they are transferred between accounts. We ask that all members bear with us while this happens as it is in our best interests after all.

2008 10 16 - All member opinion received relating to risk is being assessed and will be put into practice by next week. We will be indicating risk as a percentage of funds for each of our investment funds to make it easier for members to select the right investment opportunities for them.

2008 10 10 - Whilst we identified trades that we could make, we will not be trading today as the opening conditions of the market this morning suggest greatly increased risk. Currency markets are looking good though. We will be looking further into this in the next few days.

2008 10 06 - After considerable testing, a new system has gone live today which will trade as our Experimental Trade Fund (ETF). We wish it all the best success.

2008 10 03 - Whilst we kept out of investment yesterday due to issues with the market, we did have success with testing new systems.

We have successfully tested a trading system which we can use in these volatile times. It cannot be used all the time but has a distinct advantage of having no downside possibility. This means that it has the possibility for profit but will not lose anything. The downside is that it is complicated to set up and the profits are unlikely to be large. (But it does seem to be free money so far).

If the markets are in turmoil, where can we safely invest. The Foreign Exchange Market perhaps. Systems that we use in the Stock Market can be used to good effect in the FX (Foreign Exchange Market) too..

We have been testing systems using "Financial Spread Betting" instead of actually purchasing the shares on the relevant exchange. In short, the downside is that the shares are never owned and so no dividend is paid. The risks can be arranged to be the same as holding the stock itself. Just like stock trading, it is regulated by the FSA. The same system that we have used with stocks, works well with this type of investment too.

We have tried "Binary Betting". This is not regulated by the FSA. It is regulated by gambling commission. (Short selling of financials not restricted). The risks can again be controlled in a similar manner.

Depending on individual circumstances, spread and binary betting is seen by HMRC as betting and so attracts NO tax liability.

RESPONSE FROM MEMBERS REQUESTED

Could all members please e-mail their thoughts on the above ASAP. The main information that we would like to know is:  (Although all input, positive or negative, is welcome)

Are members happy to move to using betting systems?

Is this an issue? If so, why?

Are members happy to have our investment used on the FX market as well as the conventional Stock market?

Are members unhappy with betting against Financial institutions? Or short selling of any company?

Could members please provide as a percentage, what they would consider Low, Medium, High and Very High Risk. ie. Low <=3%, Med 5%, High 7.5%, VHigh >=10%

2008 09 30 - Sorry for delays in updates. We have been plagued by sickness and injury.

Would someone please tell us the next time we get our dates wrong!

We will be requesting our members input on new trading methods which may be of substantial benefit to our members shortly. Please be ready to provide a prompt e-mail reply, thank you.

We are very sorry for the recent losses sustained. We are working on new methods which should help reduce future occurrences like these. Please bear with us. Our record is still good in comparison with other investments. You should also be able to offset some of this with your tax return - Please seek help from a professional tax advisor.

2008 09 20 - Apologies for the delay in updating the admin info. We have been arranging better facilities with banks.

2008 09 08 - We experienced a major problem with data feeds from the exchanges on Monday and so regrettably were forced to suspend our investing activities for this day.

2008 08 20 - We have some new ideas that should increase our flexibility. Once checked out, these will be announced shortly.

We have people checking into reducing our possible Tax liability and ways of minimising it.

2008 08 07 - Proteus has begun training. in an attempt to reduce our exposure to the market and increase forecasting accuracy and profit while minimising risk, we have enlisted the aid of Proteus a Neural Genetic Hybrid (Not quite sentient yet. That would be something). Once training has completed we will begin a testing phase, if this goes well then Proteus will go online protecting our investments. If this proves successful, then a second neural genetic hybrid will be enlisted.

2008 08 06 - There has been a recent increase in membership which has led to delays in the admin side of things. unfortunately the website has experienced delays in updates too. We would like to apologise for these delays and ask you to be patient with us (it will be worth it). All admin and website updates should be complete by 08:00 07/08/2008. For those who unfortunately feel that this is unacceptable, then regrettably we would suggest looking to a different investment platform.
